Comic Book Workshop
Dates: November 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th 4:00pm-8:00pm
Price: $120 for all 4 sessions
Location: Beale Street Studios (204 E Beale Street) Next to the Healthy Bar
Skill and Ages: All ages are welcome. Basic drawing, writing and reading comprehension recommended.
Materials: All materials will be provided. (Including: Reference comics that can be checked out during the class, Comic Art Paper, Inks, nibs, brushes, and pens, Pencils, erasers, rulers.) Students are encouraged to bring in art implements that they currently use to create their artwork. Snacks will also be provided.
Description: In this 4 week comic book workshop, students will learn the necessary skills to create and produce their very own comic book in the traditional method. Students will have full creative control when they write, draw and design their very own comic book.
Each week we will add a new topic, skill, or tool which will be demonstrated to assist the students during their comic creation.
Week 1: Creating your comic

- Draw a one panel comic
- Storytelling and writing
Week 2: Drawing your comic
- Character design
- Page Layout and comic panel boarders
- Penciling your comic
- Inking and comic book styles
Week 3: Finishing your comic
- Lettering and word balloons
- Sound Effects
- Coloring
Week 4: Publishing your comic
- Pagenation
- Printing
- Book building and formatting
At the end of the course all participants will have all their work complied and printed into a physical comic, as well as a digital pdf.
